A seller-first comparison of Flippa, Empire Flippers and Acquire.com.

For sellers, marketplace selection changes both economics and process. A lower headline fee is not automatically better if the marketplace lacks the right buyers; a higher commission is not automatically justified if you do not need the added service.

What sellers should compare

  • Upfront listing cost and ongoing subscription cost.
  • Closing/success fee at your expected sale price.
  • Acceptance or profitability requirements.
  • Buyer verification and audience fit.
  • Confidentiality, negotiation and transfer support.

Flippa: flexible service levels

Flippa currently offers self-service listing packages beginning at $29, higher-visibility options and broker-led services for qualifying businesses. Success fees start at 5% and vary by deal. This makes it useful for sellers who want to choose how much platform help to buy.

Empire Flippers: curated and higher-touch

Empire Flippers has no listing fee but requires businesses to meet profitability and history standards. Its current seller commission includes a $10,000 minimum for smaller deals and then a blended structure. The trade-off is a more curated process and migration support.

Acquire.com: transparent tiered seller pricing

Acquire.com currently charges $25–$100 per month to list depending on asking price, plus a 6–8% closing fee. Its audience and positioning make it particularly relevant for startup/SaaS sellers, though the marketplace now spans several online-business categories.

Seller shortcut

Get a realistic asking-price range first. Then compare the total expected fee and service level at that price instead of choosing based on a single advertised percentage.
